Jos Baeten, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors at a.s.r., has been appointed as the chairman of the Verbond van Verzekeraars (Association of Insurers) during the General Assembly. Jos Baeten’s appointment is for a two-year term, succeeding Tjeerd Bosklopper (Nationale Nederlanden), who held the position since June 2021.
Jos Baeten, who unfortunately could not attend the members’ meeting, recorded a video message for the members: ‘As a sector, we face several significant challenges in a time of change. Sustainability remains one of the themes we need to focus on as an industry, especially now that it appears the new government may not prioritize it sufficiently. We can take a leadership role in addressing this. Additionally, we must continue to work on our sector’s reputation and further concentrate on how and where we can make a positive impact. Finally, I see opportunities to invest more in inclusivity within the boards of both the Verbond and the insurers themselves. As a membership organization, this is something we must do together. In my role as chairman, I aim to maintain engagement while expediting decision-making. I look forward to it.’
