Aegon Cappital's PPI will legally merge with a.s.r. PPI, with a planned merger date of 1 January 2025. This means that a.s.r. PPI will soon offer two propositions: Doenpensioen and Cappital pension. The latter focuses on the wholesale market. The SME portfolios of a.s.r. and Aegon will eventually be consolidated.
Since July 2023, Aegon Netherlands has been part of a.s.r. That means products and processes will be gradually merged. Next follows Aegon Cappital, merging with the a.s.r. PPI. Within the a.s.r. PPI, two products will be run, Cappital Pension and Doenpensioen.
Folkert Pama, director of a.s.r.'s pension business, says: ’With the arrival of Cappital pension, we now fully serve the corporate market. These employers often want to be able to choose from multiple product features and have specific requirements around investing. With our two products within the PPI and the insured Employee Pension, we now serve the entire market and a.s.r. is fully ready for the Wtp.’
Apart from the fading out of the Aegon name, little will change for customers for now. The scheme they have and their contact will not change. Cappital pension offers several services that encourage participants to be more proactive with their pensions. And services that support employers in raising pension awareness among employees. These services are being rolled out across the complete pension proposition. The a.s.r. Vitality programme will also be available to all Cappital pension clients from the time of the merger.
a.s.r. provides pensions for over two million Dutch people. The total invested pension assets are about 80 billion euro. 2.5 billion euro per year is paid in pension premiums. Some 40,000 employers are clients.
